Stepney City Farm is a farm in Stepney Green, East London. This farm is four acres in size, with much to see and do. A working farm that is free to enter and explore, Stepney Farm features many animals to see, from ducks to donkeys to produce, plus an abundance of activities for all to enjoy.

Stepney Farm is one of the best farms for city children. Educational, interactive and highly engaging, this would be perfect for kids who love animals and are eager to see the original animals inspiring so many cartoons. Enjoy looking at real cattle, donkeys, chickens, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, sheep, goats, and ferrets, and even take some of them for walks in the farm! Stepney Farm also offers feed bags, for visitors to have the chance to feed the animals themselves. Interactive to say the least, Stepney Farm offers great opportunities for kids to get involved.

Families will love Stepney City Farm for its events. The community farm has a Rural Arts Centre, with some talented craftspeople, such as potters, blacksmiths and woodworkers. Even better, the farm hosts many regular free workshops, where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can learn new skills. In the purpose-built Rural Arts Studios, you can learn pottery, woodworking, landscape painting and much more! As a great way to teach kids about where their food comes from, why not try one of Stepney Farm’s gardening courses? Among the farm’s courses are the vegetable growing course, the permaculture course, the mushroom growing course, and the medicinal herbs course. For the animal-lovers, consider taking Stepney Farm’s beekeeping course, or one of their other open volunteering courses on more aspects of animal care.

If dropping by on a Saturday, be sure to visit the Saturday Farmer’s Market, for some delightful produce to purchase. Just one of many events Stepney Farm hosts, there are also a variety of talks you can attend throughout the year, seasonal events and even yoga classes!

If you’re wondering what you might be able to purchase from the lovely petting farm at Stepney Farm, you have many options. Discover the seasonal fruit and vegetables they have on offer, and the variety of eggs for sale: duck eggs, goose eggs, quail eggs and, of course, chicken eggs. For the perfect salad, why not purchase the farm’s varieties of spinach, kale, pak choi, garlic chives, mint, rocket and more. The produce on sale at Stepney Farm is very popular, so be sure to arrive early for more choice!

And if your visit to Stepney Farm causes the kids to yearn for a family pet, why not get a guinea pig? Stepney Farm sells soft, fluffy guinea pigs in pairs.

For older kids aged 12 to 18 interested in farming, animal care, or the running of the spectacular Stepney Farm, they might be interested in becoming a volunteer. A great experience to deepen their interests and help the community, being a volunteer at Stepney Farm will be an enlightening experience.
