Give your city children a taste of country life with a visit to one of the biggest urban farms in London, Mudchute Farm. Established in 1977, this 32-acre farm has a mission to preserve nature and educate the public about caring for the environment and all living creatures in it. From meeting the animals to exploring the wildlife and taking part in the wonderful community events, a day spent at this East London family farm is sure to delight kids and parents alike.

Mudchute Farm is one of the largest inner-city farms in Europe. It is home to some rare breeds as well as the classic farmyard friends like chickens, cows, pigs, sheep and more. Kids will love interacting with the more unusual animals like the llamas and rare aviary birds. Check out the cute petting zoo in the Pets Corner to meet some cuddly friends like bunny rabbits, guinea pigs and more! Over 100 different animals call this farm their home, so there are a lot of furry friends to meet during your visit.

Mudchute Farm also houses a huge stable with several strong horses and ponies. They offer a fantastic horse riding programme for people aged seven and up. The staff are always on hand to make visitors feel comfortable, so no matter what skill level you have with horses, beginners and experts alike are welcome to give it a try. There is also the unique Pony Day programme, especially for children. Running throughout school holidays, this day-long course introduces kids to equestrian life by teaching them all about feeding, grooming, mucking and riding the horses. It is a fun and unforgettable experience for young animal lovers.

In addition to the wonderful animal community at Mudchute Park Farm, there is also stunning wildlife in the surrounding area to explore. It is the perfect place for a relaxing family walk, smell the flowers and look for mini-beasts in the amazing grasslands. If you bring your dog to the park, this is the perfect area to let them roam free. There is also an outdoor play area on site where the kids can run around and let loose after meeting all the animals.

Mudchute Farm also schedules some great family events throughout the year that everyone will find enjoyable. Check out the regular workshops such as Mudchute Meals, the community farm cookery classes running every Wednesday and Thursday. The Car Boot Sale occurs on the last Sunday of every month where the community comes together for a local flea market. Don’t forget to pencil in the seasonal events on your calendar. The Easter Parade, Summer Open Day, Spooky Halloween and the Christmas Fair are all unmissable annual events that provide fun for all the family. There is always something exciting to be a part of at Mudchute Farm.
