Treat your family to a traditional afternoon tea as you cruise down the River Ouse in York. Explore York’s finest landmarks as you tuck into your sumptuous treat.

Enjoy a selection of delicious finger sandwiches, homemade sultana scones with a generous dollop of clotted cream and raspberry conserve, a selection of homemade cakes, an almond and strawberry Bakewell slice, iced carrot cakes squares, cream filled chocolate profiteroles and of course, endless coffee and tea!

Take in the beautiful scenic views and the wide variety of wildlife on the River Ouse as you glide past. Marvel at York’s historic architecture as you glide through the city and then downstream to the magnificent Bishopthorpe Palace, where an Archbishop of York has been resident since 1241. Along the way, your knowledgeable local skipper will provide you with the fascinating history of the area and point out the city’s hidden gems.

What to know before you go

  • Your ticket includes a two-hour York Afternoon Tea Cruise with an English-speaking guide.
  • The cruise departs at 2.45pm from the King’s Staith Landing. Boarding commences at 2.30pm. Please be on time as latecomers will not be waited for.
  • The vessel will return to the King’s Staith Landing at 4.30pm.
  • Changes are not possible for this ticket.
  • Please present your smartphone ticket upon boarding.
  • You can select free cancellation whilst booking and cancel until 11.59pm the day before your visit.
  • Children under three go for free with a free ticket. If you would like them to have a seat and meal, please choose a child ticket (ages 3 - 12).
  • There’s no high chairs, baby-changing facilities or buggy storage available on board.
  • It is not possible to bring your dog along to this dining experience, but they are welcome on other sightseeing cruises.

Getting there

  • The afternoon tea cruise departs from the King’s Staith Landing.
  • York station is a 13-minute walk from King’s Staith Landing.
  • Bus routes 4, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 26 all stop nearby.
  • St George's Field car park (YO10 4AB) and Marygate car park (YO30 7DT) are close to the King’s Staith Landing.
