  • Take a ride with this award-winning tour company and explore the western Lake District in all its natural glory.
  • This Roman-pioneered tour will take you past impressive fort remains, England’s deepest lake and highest mountain and through the beautiful grounds of a 14th-century castle.

Mountain Goat’s High Adventure tour focuses on the western side of North England’s stunning Lake District which includes the area’s most famous mountain passes, Hardknott and Wrynose. As some of the steepest mountains in the UK, these high peaks give the tour its name for good reason and offer breathtaking views for you to enjoy and snap a family photo in front of. The High Adventure tour also lets you admire Wastwater, the deepest lake in England, which was previously voted ‘Britain’s favourite view’ under the impressive Scafell Pike mountain.

Starting at Windermere Tourist Centre, this classic tour from Mountain Goat uses a route which can be traced all the way back to the Romans, so is a great one for big or little history buffs. Your tour bus will take you past the incredible Hardknott Roman Fort, which dates back as early as the 2nd century and still includes remains of the headquarters, bath house and commandant's house. You will also be able to visit the spectacular grounds of the 14th-century Muncaster Castle during your tour, entry to which is included in your ticket.

As well as the castle grounds, your High Adventure tour ticket includes transport in a 16-seater minibus (with a maximum group size of 8), onboard commentary in English by an expert guide, passing by the Hardknott Fort and viewpoints around the Western Lake District. Lunch is not included in the tour, but a stop will be made where you can purchase food at a traditional country inn or at Muncaster Castle if you require. The Mountain Goat High Adventure tour is a great way to visit some of the more hidden gems with the Lake District National Park as well as seeing some of its most famous and oldest sights.
