In those lovely first few months with a baby, it's natural to want to keep them next to you at all times, even at night.

Bedside cribs are the perfect way to get your baby used to a crib (and sleeping at night, hopefully) without worrying about rolling onto them in the night. The NHS recommends that babies stay in the same room as you for the first six months, so you know your co-sleeping cot will be well used.

If you've decided to go for a bedside crib, decide which is the best bedside cot for you by checking out our recommendations.

Kidadl's Top Pick

Every bedside baby cot we've highlighted comes highly recommended, but if you're short on time and want to know the ultimate baby crib to put next to your bed then we reckon the Chicco Next To Me is a safe bet for its comfort and durability.

1. Chicco Next 2 Me Bedside Sleeper Crib

We think the Chicco Next2Me is the best of all the bedside baby cribs. It has a drop side to make those night-time feeds easier, and you'll feel like you're co-sleeping while also having enough space for yourself. It even tilts, which is a something to consider when your baby has a cold or reflux issues. We also love that the Next To Me crib is sturdy but still light enough to move around.

Main Features

  • Price: £139
  • Drop side
  • Six position adjustable mattress base

Best For Families On A Budget

2. Babylo Bedside Cozi Sleeper

We think this bedside baby cot is amazing value for money. The Babylo Cozi Sleeper has a zip-down side, is height adjustable to five different settings and has an incline option. The lining is also easy to remove, so very convenient for washing, and you can even pack it into its travel bag for nights away. The only downside is the quality of the mattress which is definitely on the firm side, so you may need to replace that if your baby isn't a fan.

Main Features

  • Price: £89.99
  • Zip-down side panel
  • Five position height adjustment
  • Incline option

Best For Travel

3) Tutti Bambini CoZee Bedside Crib

We think this is definitely one of the more beautiful bedside cribs, but the best thing about it is how easy it is to assemble and pack away. It's so easy to put up, adjust the height as needed and secure to the bed, and when you need to fold away it fits nicely into the included travel bag, so there isn't any need to invest in a separate travel cot.

Main Features

  • Price: £139.99
  • Easy to open up and fold away
  • Comes with storage shelf and travel bag

Best Soothing Crib

4) Fisher Price Soothing Motions Bassinet Bedside Sleeper

This isn't a bedside cot in the sense it attaches to the bed, but we think it's a brilliant crib for babies that can go next to your bed at night. When you're trying to get your baby to sleep you will probably experiment with different tactics, and this is one of the beds for babies that includes a few options for you. For example, your baby may get mesmerised by the light show or mobile which helps them drift off, or if you find your baby instantly dozes in the car then the vibration function might work. For everything that's included, we think this cot is definitely worth considering.

Main Features

  • Price: £114.99
  • Comes with light projection, night light, sound and vibration settings
  • Includes overhead mobile

Best Height Adjustable Crib

5) Chicco Next 2 Me Magic Bedside Sleeper Crib

The upgraded version of the Next To Me cot is pricey, but if you have a baby with congestion or reflux problems then the four tilt settings might be a game changer. The new easy-access sliding side panel is also a welcome adjustment, making it even easier when you need to feed in the night; and the new rocking function is great if it helps your baby sleep in their cot! We love how it has 11 height levels, so it should fit different beds if you ever visit friends or family.

Main Features

  • Price: £219
  • Includes one-hand sliding side panel
  • 11 height adjustable levels
  • Has four tilt options

Best Bedside Crib For Style

The SnuzPod has had its second upgrade. It now includes a reflux leg that slots in place at one end and is larger than its previous versions. You can still rock it slightly, and it's still probably the best looking co-sleeping crib around so will look amazing in your home. This baby cot bed is extremely durable, so if you're planning on another baby at some point or know someone who is, you can get your money's worth.

Main Features

  • Price: £199.99
  • Optional reflux leg
  • Nine height positions

Best Crib For Air Flow

7) PurFlo Keep Me Close Breathable Crib

Most bedside cots have some mesh sides to help visibility and airflow, but this one from PurFlo has the material virtually all the way round, increasing air flow to keep your baby cool and also improving visibility so you can see how cute they look at all angles! The drop side makes night feeding easy and we love how the upholstery and mattress are machine washable - a big bonus when many other models are hand wash only.

Main Features

  • Price: £199.99
  • Machine washable upholstery and mattress
  • Breathable mesh sides

Best Bedside Crib And Playpen

8) Red Kite Nebula Bedside Crib

This crib might not be the most exciting to look at, but it has the basics of a bedside bed: a zip-down side, five adjustable heights and tilt options for colic. However the best thing about this cot is its value for money. If you think you'll be packing away this bedside crib after six months then think again, because the Nebula converts to a playpen. It may not be sturdy or large enough for the more boisterous toddler, but for the price you can't really complain.

Main Features

  • Price: £99
  • Adjustable incline and heights
  • Can be converted into playpen

Best For Longevity

9) Shnuggle Air Bedside Crib

Another cot that can last longer than six months is this model from Shnuggle, which converts into a proper stand-alone cot, lasting your child up to two years old. It does cost extra for the conversion kit and it's not cheap, but handy if you need a quick fix if your baby suddenly starts standing up! We also love the chunky look of this cot and the storage space available underneath for essentials like nappies and wipes.

Main Features

  • Price: £179.99
  • Converts to cot (with conversion kit that is sold separately)
  • Legs adjust for height and tilt options

Best For Bedside Storage

10) Maxi-Cosi Iora Bedside Crib

This bedside cot is one of the more practical models on the market. We love the sturdy storage basket to keep nappies, muslins and other essentials. It folds away fairly easily and comes with a storage bag, so it's handy for travelling although it's not the lightest of cribs. It's also easy to adjust the height and works well as a stand-alone crib after those first few weeks.

Main Features

  • Price: £179.55
  • Large storage basket
  • Easy to fold away
