Join The London Symphony Orchestra For An Online Concert

this event has no time specified

What to expect

The London Symphony Orchestra currently has a residency at London's Barbican Centre, and they perform the majority of their season's concerts there. You may not be able to visit the Barbican at the moment to listen to the LSO with your children in person, but that doesn't mean you have to stop listening to your classical music altogether. In fact, the LSO is providing a special online season where they will be performing to everyone, everywhere. Whether you love classic or contemporary music, this is a massive treat for music fans big and small!

Discover a wonderful digital programme - you will find full-length archive concerts, interviews, playlists and activities for young people and families. There will be two archive broadcasts on YouTube every Sunday and Thursday until 14 June, the scheduled final day of the Orchestra’s 2019/20 season at the Barbican. Kids and adults can enjoy introductions from the musicians, conductors and soloists. Plus, you can explore the digital programme notes, which guide you through the music.

If you are taking a break from homeschooling, check out the coffee morning sessions, which are available each Monday. The music is chosen by LSO musicians and is performed and recorded at home. The London Symphony Orchestra have also provided some fun, creative music-based tasks for children. Discover how to build an orchestra or join a 30-minute musical version of the popular children’s book, Olivia Forms A Band.

Even with so much on offer at the Barbican, music and live performances remain its most beloved offering. If you're interested in watching more gigs at home, check out the Couch Concerts sessions, and if you prefer not to be a solo performer, why not have a look at the Emerson Waldorf School, who will be hosting a virtual sing-along.
