The Lacy Cur is generally a healthy dog breed. They were developed for herding and hunting animals and to withstand long hard labor days. It is not unusual to find Lacy dogs spending the whole day running and chasing animals. It has vigilant behavior that is naturally territorial, not allowing strangers and other predators to enter its territory.

However, some potential health issues suffered by Blue Lacys include dilution alopecia, skin allergies, hypothyroidism, and hip or elbow dysplasia. In dilution alopecia, the skin becomes dry and dull and the hair becomes so much damaged that it starts to break and fall, leaving the area looking bald. Skin allergies are common in purebred dogs. History of the Blue Lacy dog

The Lacy Cur is one of the best working dog breeds. They are easy to train as they are knowledgeable and active. The Blue lacy breed was developed in 1858 in the state of Texas, the United States, by the Lacy brothers (Harry Lacy, George Lacy, Frank Lacy, and Ewin Lacy). To the state of Texas, the Lacy family is believed to have contributed a lot. The breed was initially developed as a herding dog to look after livestock on farms and ranches and also to keep an eye on herders and hunters.

They are known as Blue Lacy because they have tri-colored coats (with blue, white, and red markings), and they carry the blue color gene. Many people see the tri-colored Blue Lacy as the "ideal" Blue Lacy dog appearance. The Lacy is named after the Lacy family brothers, the original Blue Lacy dog breeders.
